Gothic Chess is chess played with two new pieces on a board 10 columns wide instead of 8.The new pieces are the Chancellor (Knight + Rook movements) and the Archbishop (Knight + Bishop movements). Adding such pieces to the game of chess was originally advocated by former World Champion Jose Capablanca. These new pieces make the game much more interesting, and shorter in terms of the average number of moves per game.
