You are also given a crew with the ship, and you have to carefully decide who’s part of the landing party whenever you have to make a descent onto a new planet. Before landing, on the other hand, you can also scan the planet for points of interest, which means that you can choose exactly where to explore first. This sounds cooler than it actually is, because the actual planets are pretty barren and boring most of the time.
