Tompi Jones is some sort of spinoff on the subject, although it borrows most of its ideas from Donkey Kong when it comes to the gameplay. The character and the presentation are definitely inspired by Indiana Jones, on the other hand, as are the actual levels you get to explore along the way. Not only that, but you also have to avoid a huge number of traps and collect artifacts while you’re at it, just like a whacky archeologist would do. The story is not exactly worthy of an award anyway, because there are not many characters other than Tompi, no voice acting, and no real explanation for what’s going on. Hence, the game assumes that you just want to have some fun and you do not really care about character arcs and intricate plotlines. Thankfully, the platforming bit is much better realized than the story.
