From these you recruit a varied cast of larger-than-life heroes. Each one has a mind of his own and must be enticed to meet your goals, via rewards you offer and spells you cast. Meanwhile you must make sure that your treasury stays flush with cash to support these and other outlays necessary to maintain a thriving medieval town. The fact that you are being barraged by attacks from mythical beasts and fantastic creatures doesn't make your job any easier.
Quests and rewards are at the heart of what makes life in Ardania interesting. They are the reason you want to attract and keep the best heroes possible in your kingdom. They are the challenge your kingdom must overcome to succeed. It could be to recover a long-lost, powerful magic item, or defeat some insidious creature that threatens your land.
As Sovereign, it is your duty to build guilds and recruit heroes to aid your kingdom. Although the heroes are your servants, you cannot command them directly for you are wise and understand that those with an adventuring spirit cannot be ruled with an iron fist. Instead, you use rewards to encourage them to do your bidding. Through the use of the heroes and guilds, the Sovereign shapes his kingdom for the good of all of his subjects. Poor choices will leave your kingdom in ruin but a wise ruler will complete his quests, fill his coffers and create a kingdom that will be remembered in song and story.
