You begin the game possessing a ship along with crew, weapons and a limited amount of money. Your goal is to ensure your survival by increasing your armada's size, strength and wealth. Along the way, you'll uncover some of the deeper secrets in the universe and find yourself called upon to deal with them. You can follow a number of different routes to wealth and power. These include trading and helping clear space of pirates, becoming a pirate yourself, making trades that benefit the fleet, acquiring items by force, and hiring out the fleet's services for profit or trade.
Strategy, tactical combat, and diplomacy tip the balance of power among the battling factions. Trade and diplomacy make up a cornerstone of the game: obtain and deal in 12 commodities while creating a trading empire. All starship battles and maneuvers unfold in full 3D with spectacular special effects.
