Armageddon Racers is a game that has racing and zombies, all in the same place. You would think that it’s a winning recipe. You would be wrong. Ever since Carmageddon put together racing and zombies other developers have tried to follow the same directions. Nobody managed to hit that sweet spot ever since, not even the same developers with their remake. It’s hard to imagine that you can go wrong with a game that has both zombies and racing, but Armageddon Racers is proof that you can. Some games are so bad that they are good. The original Carmageddon did this better than anyone. It didn’t take itself seriously, and nobody did. Even so, its legacy has been difficult to follow. Driving over zombies seems like the blandest thing to do, and Armageddon Racers does it terribly.
