Battle Town is a top-down action game that’s very obviously inspired by Battle City, although it comes with a few interesting new elements as well. The goal is to get to the exit from each level and avoid the tanks that block your way, either by running away, or by simply destroying them. Both options are more difficult to approach than it sounds, but that’s also because of the clunky gameplay mechanics. To begin with, your tank moves rather slowly, and it’s pretty difficult to change direction, given the fact that you have to let go of one directional key before the other can work. This is a bit counterintuitive and annoying, but it’s possible to get used to it after a while. Naturally, it’s difficult to see why would do that when there are better games out there.
